Movin’ to the country…
What does it say about a girl if she bought almost 10-quarts of fresh peaches 3-days ago; her husband doesn’t eat them (yes, I said that); her children eat a minimal amount, and she’ll have to go back for a refill next week in order to have enough to make a peach cobbler? In all fairness, I did give a couple of quarts away…but, let’s just say I’ve been eatin’ me a whoooole lot of peaches. Only these peaches didn’t come from a can (more credit to The Presidents of the United States of America), they came from
Livesay Orchards in Porter, Oklahoma.

Porter has long been considered Oklahoma’s Official Peach Capital, Livesay Orchards the center of it. Livesay harvests several varieties of those sticky, juicy, fuzzy chunks of sweetness Mid-June through October (season allowing). Imagine, if you will, a little drive through the Oklahoma countryside to indulge in a delicious snag – the jewel of the summer and a flavorful relief from aridity. Livesay also sells a variety of seasonable fruits and locally grown vegetables, local honey and fresh peach products.
Unfortunately, there are just enough peaches in my stash to eat tomorrow so I’ll have to mooch some recipes off a few of my blogger buddies to share with you. I intend to try these myself…not long after I take another little drive.
Bellini Cocktail from Putney Farm
Fresh Peach Crostata from Tales of A Clyde Woman
Grunt {a delicious twist on cobbler} from Eclectic Faerie
Those peaches look delicious! Great picture…making my mouth water…
Thank you so much! Thanks for visiting and for your comment. I hope you can indulge in a peach.
I love peaches too! I heard they were $54.00 a bushel in our area right now – holy cow! Peach jam is on my list of things to make. Just checked out some of the yummy posts you shared. Where to start? LOL
Geez!! That’s pretty expensive, sounds about the same here, around 27.00 for 1/2 bushel. I’m having a difficult time getting to any of those recipes because I refuse to turn my oven on. Our old AC has to work double-hard to keep up in this extreme heat. I don’t want to tax it anymore. I’ll probably post some more peach recipes this week!
I have been indulging in some peaches from Colorado and was thinking it must be a particularly good year for them because they are just so so sweet! Amy, did you take that photo? It’s wonderful!
These are very sweet too! Maybe the heat helps. Yes, I did take the photographs. Thank you very much for your compliment.
Peaches taste like summer!:)
Yes, they do! So yummy!
Thanks for the referral! Enjoy the peaches:)
But, of course! You are welcome and we are definitely enjoying these. I look forward to peach season all year long.
Lovely photograph!
Thank you!
I loooooove fresh peaches. Eat one more for me…
Don’t worry! You’ve probably eaten at least a pint vicariously!
Yum…
Beautiful photos!
You sound like me…I get all sorts of wonderful stuff at the farmers market and I end up having to eat all of it myself
They were definitely addicting! Hoping to pick-up some more next week!
Mmmmm….look at all of those delicious peaches!!
They are just as good as they look! I intend to go back next week for more. Just call me the crazy peach lady!

Thanks for the pingback!
Those peaches look so sexy! Hahaha…
They do, don’t they (until you bite into them)? Sexy is not sticky peach juice running down your face and dripping everywhere, delicious it is!! Hope you’re having a good weekend!
Right back atcha! Too bad though we’ve had 2 days of storm bringing the flood near our place.
Flood isn’t good! I hope you all are safe!
We’re okay, but some parts of our neighborhood got some flood. Thanks for your kind attention.
You’re welcome! Floods are not fun. We’ve experienced a few here (though not recently).
