Oh, me too! I remembered a memory concerning them. My mom stopped by the side of the road to pick one and take to my grandmother in the hospital and lost one of her earrings. It was one of the gold studs she always wore. We went to look for it and couldn’t find it, but my grandmother was given a pretty flower.
Absolutely gorgeous. In the south the perfume from these royal flowers was absolutely intoxicating. Reminded me of Dorothy in the field of poppys
Yes, they are lovely! These were hidden off the beaten path, but their scent was unmistakable.
So beautiful!! Mine is in bloom too, and the air is scented with their sweetness!!

Thanks! This photo was actually taken at our zoo. I’m going to have to plant a Magnolia one of these days! Enjoy yours!
Thanks! You should plant one. They are “no care” and beautiful!!
xo, Deb
You had me at ‘no care’. And it’s a lovely idea. In 20-years, I’ll probably still be here, but with a magnolia tree to boot.
Lovely flowers and photos of them. Thank you for sharing
Thank you and you’re welcome! Happy to spread the joy.
Stunning again Amy- I had a big magnolia grandiflora in the garden but we had to have it cut down as the roots were lifting up the garage floor!!. It had been planted probably around 30 years ago and was still going strong. The children loved it as they had their swing in it and it was the first tree they learnt to climb. I feel inspired now to plant another one – maybe just not so close to a building. Lovely photos.
Wow! I think I’ll plant one pretty soon and will remember to keep it far away from the house! What lovely memories with your magnolia tree!
I adore magnolias, and the south is covered with them! In my hometown there is an antebellum home that dates back to 1838. The magnolia trees planted all about the property are still going strong 172 years later!
Yes, one of the objects that makes the south so beautiful, among those beautiful homes and the willows & cypress. What a rich place!
beautiful and i love the smell of them
Intoxicating!
I’m rather fond of them too, such simple purity and elegance!
They are gorgeous. I guess I should put one up in the backyard. I could possibly sleep under it? Have a great day!
