If I were a rich girl, I’d have sipped and savored this refreshing libation on my terrace overlooking Lake Como. But I’m not. So I mixed it up, did a little photo shoot and then poured it into a plastic cup and spring cleaned while the boys and DJ explored the great outdoors. BTW, don’t ya love that martini glass? My sister talked me into spending all the change to my name one day while we were shopping and I gave up a dime for two of them at a Goodwill store. I love inexpensive, cool finds!
Next time, I’ll likely use the blender to mix this, but it’s not my style to make life extremely easy for myself so I learn the hard way most days. If you do use the blender, pour it into the shaker and shake it a little just for good measure.
Watermelon Basil Margaritas
2-3 c. watermelon
Juice of 1 lime (or lemon)
1-2 oz. bar syrup (simple syrup)
2 1/2 jiggers reposado
1/4 c. loosely packed fresh basil leaves
2-3 small fresh mint leaves
Muddle basil leaves and mint leaves together with tequila using a wooden spoon. Set aside (can let this sit awhile). Smash watermelon with a potato masher or blend in the blender. Add remaining ingredients, including tequila and leaves to blender or shaker with a little ice. Strain and pour. Enjoy!

i’m not a tequila person but oooh that sounds so refreshing ~ maybe i’ll try with rum
That would probably be nice. I’ll be posting a drink with rum next week that will totally rock your world!
i’m all ears ~ and taste buds…
