I had planned to do another give-away today, but we’ve had a little tummy bug circulating our house and I haven’t gotten out to shop. Now the caregiver is down, but at least I’ve lost a couple of pounds of water weight.
In the meantime, I’d like to share a wonderful blog I found recently – Australian Extra Virgin (I hope they don’t mind I used their image). Along with great recipes & mythbusting, they also share pertinent information concerning the scandal surrounding cheap imports. If you’re not familiar with this issue, know that all olive oils are not the same. Look and read the label before you buy! Support the industry of authentic, certified Extra Virgin Olive Oil and please visit Australian Extra Virgin for more information.
I could really rant about this, but I won’t. :-)

Have a great day!

Good suggestion! It is amazing what a difference it makes in the taste from country to country. Have tried some Austrailian evoo and loved it! Now trying Spanish and Portuguese.
I’m just a fan of EVOO from any country of origin as long as it’s authentic. The cheap imports are digging into every country’s certified EVOO market. It’s really sad.
Love olive oil. Will try the Australian. Thanks for the information.
Just make it’s authentic, whatever EVOO you choose!
Oh no! Feel better, Amy.
Thank you! I’m much better this evening. Foodie blogs are looking good again so I’m heading to the grocery store.
Hope you’re having a great day!
Thanks, Amy. I had no idea this was happening. It’s great that Australia has the symbol so a person knows she’s buying the good stuff. Does the US have a good way of knowing if olive oil is real EVOO? Or can you tell if you read the label? It all seems confusing and somewhat infuriating. I wonder if the UK has a similar problem.
I’m glad to read that you’re feeling better.
I found this article today – http://www.abcactionnews.com/dpp/news/national/u.s.-plans-to-regulate-olive-oil-imports. Looks like word is spreading.
Thank you! I am feeling much better. Hope you’re enjoying a great weekend.
Thanks, Amy. I can’t believe that the EVOO problem is so significant that about half of all oil in the US is adulterated! It makes me angry. I’m really happy to read that the US is doing something about this fraud. I hope you’re having a great weekend, too.
Thank you. Weekend is good. Yes, it really pisses me off, but I’m happy to know action is being taken. Pass the word!
Olive Oil should be sacred – why should it be so confusing? Maybe we can follow in Australia’s good example.
